TENSIONSET

TENSIONSET BProper belt tensioning is frequently overlooked when tensioning belts on motor drives. Commonly, over-tensioned belts induce excessive force on shaft bearings and other components, causing premature failure and costly repairs.

The Setco TensionSet is a load limiting device that protects shaft bearings from inadvertent over-tensioning. The TensionSet rotates like a nut to generate pull-force on a threaded rod. The pull-force in turn increases the distance between pulleys, and induces belt tension. When pull-force exceeds the load setting during tightening, the TensionSet disengages internally to prevent over-tensioning. Positive reverse drive ensures the TensionSet will remove the tensioning load as it rotates in the reverse direction.

The “load sensitive” TensionSet design is resistant to changes in threaded rod condition that alter
the relationship between tightening torque and pull force.
