Our Process

Disassembly

The first step in the spindle repair process is the initial inspection. After our technicians receive your spindle, they begin the repair process by dissembling the spindle.

Inspection

After completing the evaluation, the technicians carefully inspect each spindle component. They assess the general condition of every part and look for indications of wear, damage, improper fit, contamination, or other possible concerns.

Repair Quote

After inspections are complete, technicians have the information needed to determine the required repairs and next steps. They research replacement parts, lead times, labor requirements, and other repair considerations to develop a detailed quote.

Part Replacement and Repair

Service technicians begin repairs after they receive the necessary parts, replacing all faulty or worn components to meet original equipment manufacturer (OEM) specifications. All changes help to restore the machine to optimal operating conditions.

Part Tests

Next, they reassemble the spindle with new or repaired components. After the spindle has been assembled, technicians will test the repairs to ensure the spindle functions at peak, and with like-new performance.

Spindle Return Shipment

Once the unit has passed all inspections, tests, and we are satisfied it meets our quality standards, the spindle is prepared for shipment. Comprehensive documentation detailing the entire repair process, including intake procedures, repair methods, and final testing protocols is available upon request.

Peace of Mind

Your spindle is repaired by highly experienced technicians backed by a company that has been manufacturing spindles and machine tools since 1912. We repair more than 400 spindles every month across four U.S. locations and three facilities in India.

1. Disassembly

The first step in the spindle repair process is the initial inspection. After our technicians receive your spindle, they begin the repair process by dissembling the spindle. They note the spindle’s condition, then carefully take it apart piece by piece. Technicians examine the components as they work, making detailed notes and documenting with photos. Then, they look closely at the faulty part to diagnose the problem. Understanding the problem’s origin lets technicians move forward with the repair in the most effective manner possible.

2. Inspection

After completing the evaluation, the technicians carefully inspect each spindle component. They assess the general condition of every part and look for indications of wear, damage, improper fit, contamination, or other possible concerns. This process helps technicians gain a clearer understanding of the spindle’s overall state and can identify additional issues during repairs. Only through thorough inspections can hidden factors affecting spindle performance be identified.

Component inspections cover:

  • Bearings
  • Bore
  • Bushings
  • Caps
  • Cooling System
  • Drawbar Assembly
  • Encoder
  • Gripper
  • Housing
  • Lubrication System
  • Motor Windings
  • Seals and O-rings
  • Sensors
  • Shaft
  • Shoulders
  • Spacers
  • Springs
  • Taper
  • And more

3. Repair Quote

After inspections are complete, technicians have the information needed to determine the required repairs and next steps. They research replacement parts, lead times, labor requirements, and other repair considerations to develop a detailed quote.

We then review the quote with you, clearly explaining the inspection results, the cause of the spindle issues, the proposed repair plan, and a full cost breakdown.

If applicable, technicians may recommend optional upgrades or additional services that could improve performance or reliability. Any requested upgrades are itemized separately and included in the final quote.

We only proceed with repairs after you approve the proposed repairs and pricing. If the quote is not approved, we simply ship the unit back to the sender. If you approve, technicians will order the necessary parts, add the repair to their service schedule, and provide an estimated completion date so your team can adjust production dates around the return.

4. Part Replacement and Repair

Service technicians begin repairs after they receive the necessary parts, replacing all faulty or worn components to meet original equipment manufacturer (OEM) specifications. All changes help to restore the machine to optimal operating conditions.

Depending on your spindle’s needs, technicians perfaorm a wide range of repair services. These can include:

  • Replacing spindle bearings: Bearing failure is a common reason for spindle issues. Technicians replace them with OEM parts to ensure they function correctly.
  • Replacing spindle seals: Worn spindle seals provide less protection for machines. Maintenance technicians replace all seals during repair procedures to make sure they provide maximum shielding.
  • Correcting tool connection issues: Various components like tapers, pilots and faces might have connectivity issues that prevent the spindle from proper operation. Our technicians will inspect places of connection and restore them if errors exist.
  • Restoring parts that don’t fit properly: Improperly fitting parts can result in excess friction and incorrect operation. During the parts inspection stage, technicians might have identified parts that are too big or small. They can restore the spindle with OEM parts to ensure seamless operation.

5. Part Tests

Next, they reassemble the spindle with new or repaired components. After the spindle has been assembled, technicians will test the repairs to ensure the spindle functions at peak, and with like-new performance. Spindles are vigorously tested and operated in conditions to simulate real in-time machining operations. Technicians will then precision balance the spindle, analyzing speed and vibration. During these tests, all details are logged for future reference.

Repair technicians evaluate each spindle component during the trials, certifying that they meet necessary performance standards. If a problem arises, they repeat the previous steps to uncover the issue and resolve it.

The documents explain testing procedures and certify that your spindle has met all performance standards, and a warranty that guarantees further assistance if your spindle displays more problems.
Spindles are ready for installation upon receipt. If the service technician has provided additional maintenance recommendations, be sure to follow them to prevent further issues.
